Wave Energy → Electricity Generation

First Prototype/Concept

Future Iteration & Cad Design

Initially an entire recycling system, this device is used in the energy recovery process of reverse osmosis and other in-pipe wasteful pressure processes.

Filtration and transportation of water is a massively inefficient process, which is why many countries struggle with it. Using a Design Matrix, and for the simplicity of a short project, a modular energy recovery device was best fit for the prototyping. This makes the product pairable with existing systems of filtration, making it affordable, maintainable, and applicable to diverse environments.

With rapid prototyping a low fidelity model was constructed from recycled water bottles and craft supplies to visualize, then a technical prototype using CAD, PVC Piping, and 3D-printing PLA components took place.

The Energy Recovery Device met all the constraints, passing multiple stages of testing, where dirt, temperature, pressure, leakage, all played a factor.

This project is still in-progress, the next phase of development includes scaling the model and redesigning the blade geometry to maintain a low Reynolds number for efficiency
